Senior / Principal Fire Engineer

Goldsmith Engineering are seeking a Senior / Principal Fire Engineer. The candidate should have at least a Level 8 Mechanical, Civil or Fire Engineering degree.

We are looking for candidates with 3 - 6 years experience. The candidate should be Chartered with Engineers Ireland or working toward this goal.

The candidate will be based in our Ranelagh Office in Dublin. Work hours are flexible and can often work from home.

Key responsibilities:

  • LEADING A TEAM OF ENGINEERS IN OUR DUBLIN OFFICE;
  • DESIGN OF BESPOKE FIRE ENGINEERING STRATEGIES FOR LARGE AND COMPLEX BUILDINGS IN IRELAND AND INTERNATIONALLY;
  • PREPARATION AND MANAGEMENT OF FIRE SAFETY CERTIFICATE APPLICATIONS TO APPROVAL;
  • SITE INSPECTIONS AND PREPARATION OF FIRE SAFETY AUDITS;
  • LIAISING & MEETING WITH CLIENTS, THE DESIGN TEAM AND THE CONTRACTOR FROM PROJECT GENERATION TO COMPLETION;
  • WINNING WORK FOR THE COMPANY AND ASSISTING WITH COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT.

The candidate should exhibit:

  • EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT;
  • THE ABILITY TO USE ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS WHERE GENERIC GUIDANCE DOCUMENT DESIGN IS PROHIBITIVE;
  • A HIGH LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF FIRE SAFETY CONSTRUCTION I.E. THE ABILITY TO INSPECT AND RECOGNISE CORRECT AND INCORRECT CONSTRUCTION ON SITE AND PROVIDE GUIDANCE TO A DESIGNER OR CONTRACTOR IN HOW BEST TO CONSTRUCT A GIVEN ELEMENT;
  • WORKING PROFICIENCY IN ALL NECESSARY IT ASSOCIATED WITH FIRE ENGINEERING – AUTOCAD, CFD;
  • THE ABILITY TO SELF-MOTIVATE, PRIORITISE AND MEET DEADLINES;
  • GOOD COMMERCIAL AWARENESS.

Assigned Certifier

Goldsmith Engineering are seeking an Assigned Certifier.

At least 3 years relevant experience in the construction industry is required. The candidate should have a relevant qualification and be eligible to become a Registered Architect, Chartered Engineer or Registered Building Surveyor.

The candidate will be based in our Ranelagh Office in Dublin. Work hours are flexible and can often work from home.

  • BECOMING A TEAM LEADER IN THE ASSIGNED CERTIFIER ACTIVITIES IN OUR DUBLIN OFFICE;
  • WORKING ALONGSIDE OUR FIRE ENGINEERS AND ASSISTING IN BUILDING INSPECTIONS;
  • PREPARATION AND MANAGEMENT OF BCMS SUBMISSIONS;
  • PREPARATION AND MANAGEMENT OF INSPECTION PLANS, PROJECT CERTIFICATION SCHEDULES, INSPECTION NOTIFICATION FRAMEWORKS;
  • LIAISING & MEETING WITH CLIENTS, THE DESIGN TEAM AND THE CONTRACTOR FROM PROJECT GENERATION TO COMPLETION;
  • WINNING WORK FOR THE COMPANY AND ASSISTING WITH COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT.

The candidate should exhibit:

  • WORKING PROFICIENCY WITH UP TO DATE TECHNOLOGY E.G. INSPECTION APPLICATIONS ON TABLET DEVICES;
  • THE ABILITY TO SELF-MOTIVATE, PRIORITISE AND MEET DEADLINES;

Fire Engineer

Goldsmith Engineering are seeking a Fire Engineer. The candidate should have at least a Level 8 Mechanical, Civil or Fire Engineering degree. Experience desirable but not necessary. The candidate should be Chartered with Engineers Ireland or working toward this goal.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design of bespoke fire engineering strategies for large and complex buildings in Ireland and Internationally;
  • Preparation and management of Fire Safety Certificate applications to approval;
  • Site inspections and preparation of Fire Safety Audits;
  • Liaising & meeting with Clients, the Design Team and the Contractor from project generation to completion;
  • Winning work for the company and assisting with commercial development;
  • A knowledge of Part M and Disability Access Certificate applications.

The candidate should exhibit:

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • The ability to use engineering solutions where generic guidance document design is prohibitive;
  • A high level of knowledge of fire safety construction i.e. the ability to inspect and recognise correct and incorrect construction on site and provide guidance to a designer or contractor in how best to construct a given element;
  • Working proficiency in all necessary IT associated with Fire Engineering – AutoCAD, CFD and preferably BIM;
  • The ability to self-motivate, prioritise and meet deadlines;
  • Good commercial awareness.

The candidate will be based in Dublin. Work hours are flexible and there is the opportunity to work from home.
